Car Fuel Efficiency

With gas prices at an all time high, car fuel efficiency is one of the most important factors in your economic life. Of course, you can get improved car fuel efficiency from buying a new hybrid car, but these cars are so expensive that they are out of many peoples ranges. Who wouldn’t want to be driving a Toyota Prius, or some other ultra low emissions vehicle to both improve the environment, and save themselves cash on gas, but lets face it, many of us can’t afford a new car at all, let alone one of these expensive hybrids. If this is the case for you, as it surely is for me, there are a number of things that you can do to increase car fuel efficiency.

If you want to buy a used car, all is not lost. Many of the smaller used automobiles, such as the VW Jetta, the Honda Civic, or the Ford Escort, have very good fuel efficiency. Be sure to get the model with the smaller, or less super powered engine, as smaller engines have the best car fuel efficiency. In addition, get your car regularly serviced. Car fuel efficiency tends to decrease over the life of your vehicle, so if you make sure that it stays running in as near to tip top condition as possible, you can minimize these losses.

Another way to improve car fuel efficiency is through careful driving. This may seem strange or backwards to you, but car fuel efficiency varies drastically in different driving conditions. Try to minimize city driving, and when you do drive, drive at times when there is less traffic, to avoid the stops and starts and long waits that just burn fuel. Additionally, try to plan your trips ahead of time to avoid unnecessary detours or slow spots.

A neat trick to improve car fuel efficiency on the freeway is to find a semi to drive behind. Although you will be going, in all likelihood, much slower than you would otherwise, driving like this in the wake, or draft, of the semi, greatly reduces air resistance. This means that your car fuel efficiency will dramatically increase, and you can sometimes get to your destination in this manner using a third less gas than you would otherwise. Defensive driving in general is a good policy, not just because it is safer, but because it increases car fuel efficiency as well. Drive carefully, and you will get there more safely, and with a few more bucks in your pocket!

Car Dvd Systems

Are you ready for that long road trip this summer? You’ve got someone house-sitting for you, the dog is at the neighbor’s, all the bags are packed, and you’re just waiting on the kids to get buckled in for safety. Uh oh, wait. You didn’t even think about it. You’ve got a 23 hour drive ahead of you with two little ones in the back seat. What are you going to do to amuse them? How will they stay entertained for an entire day and night of travel? This is actually a big issue. If you have children of your own, then you’re probably familiar with what I’m talking about. I don’t care if they’re toddlers or in the sixth grade, they sure as heck won’t like sitting in that back seat for hour upon hour. Fortunately there is a solution to this redundant dilemma, and it concerns the vehicle you’re traveling in. I’m talking about car DVD systems. Have you got one yet?

Are you familiar with contemporary car DVD systems? No, I’m not referring to that retro television you have plugged into your cigarette lighter. I’m talking about compact, state of the art car DVD systems. In many vehicles these comes as an added feature. In fact, you’ve probably encountered one or two while car shopping in the past. I know when the wife and I went out browsing for mini-vans, car DVD systems were rather prominent. And that was back in 2001. I thought it was so cool how they basically worked as a flip down screen for the rear passengers. Of course the driver can’t view the film. We don’t want any absurd accidents. Typically car DVD systems can easily be controlled from the dash where the radio controls are located. This way the folks can pop in a flick and the little ones can remain engrossed in a good cartoon or family film until the destination is in sight. Obviously the sound flows through the car speakers so that all is heard by everyone.

It’s probably about time you jumped on the “car DVD systems” bandwagon. Don’t you need a nice entertainment system in your family vehicle? Imagine how much less fighting and arguing there would be. Even if your mini-van or SUV did not come standard with a dvd system, you can still have one added for a decent price. Hop online now and check out the variety of car DVD systems available.
